Hi, I’m Mary Susan! I am a Birth Doula serving Cleveland and the surrounding areas. I was certified as a Birth and Bereavement Doula in 2015 through Stillbirthday and I am currently in the process of completing my Birth Doula certification through DONA International.
As a doula, I believe in the incredible, innate strength of women’s bodies and the partners who support them. I believe that knowledge is power and I am constantly striving to learn. I promote evidence based research, I support the empowerment of women and families, and I deeply believe that birth is a beautiful mix of physical, spiritual, emotional forces all coming together to create one of the most profound events in the human experience. I also think that birth can be pretty fun.
Outside of birth work, I’m the mother of four, a former English teacher and children’s librarian, and a hand embroidery artist. So, I’m basically nailing it on the old lady status. I’m originally from Texas and I moved to Cleveland with my family in 2012 and stayed for the weather and the pierogis. I love to laugh, I attempt to journal, and I think Mr. Rogers hung the moon.
I’m also real glad you’re here. Thanks for stopping by!
